How it can help
How Pilates Can Help With Aches and Pains
Aches and pains are often the result of muscle imbalances, poor posture, repetitive strain, or prolonged sitting. Pilates addresses these root causes by focusing on alignment, controlled movement, and deep core strength. Rather than simply masking discomfort, Pilates works to improve how your body moves and supports itself.
One of the main ways Pilates reduces pain is by strengthening the deep stabilizing muscles of the core, including the abdominals, pelvic floor, and muscles around the spine. When these muscles are weak, larger muscles compensate, which can lead to overuse and strain — especially in the lower back, hips, and shoulders. By building balanced strength from the inside out, Pilates helps reduce unnecessary pressure on joints and soft tissues.
Pilates is also highly effective at improving posture. Many common aches — particularly in the neck, shoulders, and lower back — stem from slouching, forward head posture, or long hours at a desk. Pilates increases awareness of body alignment and trains you to maintain better posture throughout the day. As alignment improves, tension often decreases naturally.

What to expect
Claire runs one to one sessions, two on one sessions and small group classes. These are available to book in directly, or often will be referred to by your chiropractor/physiotherapist.
On your initial appointment it is important to wear clothing that is loose and comfortable, as the class will often involve lots of movement. If you have any particular issues it is important to communicate these to claire so she can be mindful of them.
Each class is different, and claire uses her wide ranging experience to create a class that is both enjoyable but also physically beneficial. Mats are available, but also please feel free to bring your own.
