CHIROPRACTIC TREATMENTS FOR THE GIANTS
Our chiropractor Luke has been working alongside the multidisciplinary medical team at the Belfast giants since the later part of the 2023/2024 season providing predominantly spinal manipulative therapy to the team and backroom staff.
Ice hockey is an incredibly fast paced, aggressive game with huge physical demands on the players bodies, players can collide at 25mph and pucks can travel up to 100mph, this combined with the heavy workload on hips means there can often be acute as well as chronic over-load type injuries.
The Belfast Giants are a large, professional outfit and the medical team comprises of; medical doctors, physiotherapists, strength and conditioning coaches, nutritionists amongst many more. Luke’s role is to work alongside and where possible add value to the rest of the medical team. Often this added value is in the form of SMT (spinal manipulative therapy) which chiropractors are most well known for. Although perhaps a small addition in the grand scheme of things, working alongside and being associated with such a large and successful team is certainly enjoyable.
