Plantar Fasciitis

What is it?

The plantar fascia is a thick band of connective tissue that sits on the bottom of your foot. Occasionally with overuse/change in shoes/change in running styles/being on your feet all day the plantar fascia can become inflamed and painful. It is estimated that plantar fasciitis can affect up to 10% of the general population throughout their lives.

How does it feel?

Plantar fasciitis often manifests as heel pain, the heel pain is often particularly worse in the morning, with some patients describing the feeling of “walking on glass” when first rising. The pain is often very severe, and aggravated by long days on your feet.

How can we help?

Your chiropractor will first diagnose the condition, including important aspects such as the amount of time the condition has been present. Once the diagnosis has been established a plan of management can be synthesised, this will include: advice, soft tissue work, dry needling, stretching, tailored loading program.
